and other support to families in crisis.

Service Hours- High School Students can obtain service hours by stacking shelves, sorting items or assisting clients.  We request that at least one adult accompany student volunteers.

Cooking Demonstration-NSU

Nicholls State University Community Nutrition Students conducted a cooking demonstration at the Thibodaux Food Bank on Oct. 23, 2009. 
The focus of the demonstration was the nutritional value of fruit and vegetables. The participants were given a short pre-test prior to the demonstration and a post test after the demonstration to test the knowledge gained.
The students prepared a vegetable soup and a microwave desert of peach cobbler.  All ingredients used were items regularly given to food bank clients.   All participants were provided recipes, a brochure containing tips on using fruit and vegetables, and the ingredients to prepare the dishes demonstrated.

Letter Carriers' Food Drive- May 8th

Thanks to All who supported the Letter Carriers' food drive on Saturday, May 8th. Letter carriers in our area collected donations of non-perishable food items for the food banks in Houma, Thibodaux and Raceland.

diet.  The students prepared seasoned green beans and broiled
pineapples and peaches.  All ingredients used were items regularly
given to food bank clients.  Participants were also given a marinated
three bean salad to sample.  All participants were provided recipes, a
brochure containing tips on using fruit and vegetables, a list of Local
Farmers Markets and the ingredients to prepare the foods demonstrated.
