Thanks to all who made the Toy Drive a Success!
Annually, Parishioners from participating Catholic Churches in Terrebonne, as well as local Businesses and Organizations, purchase gifts for the Jessie Tree to make a child's Christmas brighter. Gifts are returned to the church during mass where the gifts are blessed and put into family bags for the families to pick up or are delivered straight to the homes of the families in need. This year, 411 children were blessed with gifts from this ministry!
Miracles of all types occur during the Christmas Season:
The Marine Toys for Tots provided us with many toys that were used to help supplement the gifts the parishioners purchased for each child.
For the first time, the toy drive collaborated with the Terrebonne Humane Society to give our low income families with pets one month worth of FREE food! Also, any of our families whose pets needed to be neutered were allowed to sign up for a voucher that would assist them with this procedure FREE of charge.
The Sunrise Rotary Club gave all children ages 6-14 who registered with the toy drive a bike!
For the second year, students, faculty and staff of Fletcher Technical Community College had a mitten, hat and sock drive. The "Mitten Tree" was decorated with all the donations which were given to needy families participating in the Toy Drive.
The Houma Jr. Women’s Auxiliary held a party for 150 of our children and provided each of them with new tennis shoes during their Santa’s Sneakers event.
Special thanks to the men at the Assisi Bridge House and our faithful volunteers who devoted hours of their time to make the toy drive a yearly success.
